OnE MeAL a DaY?!

One meal a day? Am I on Diet?
Noooooo.......
What i mean is i was just having one meal today.........
Not because I am on diet......
because I had a late lunch at Jogoya with my uni colleagues and felt so full until night......

My day was started from 6.30am- wake up then went to MARDI for some lab works.
Skip lab meeting today and reply some mails.........
Travel to UM at 12pm to meet up uni colleagues.......
Then, heading to Jogoya together and enjoy our late lunch at 2pm.
Why i choose to come here for second time?---requested by my colleagues lo...
Why they choose Jogoya since some of them have been here for third or forth time?--Got promotion mah!
The price was RM55.50 each for the late lunch session, inclusive of tax and 10% service charge......
Worth it right??
The ambiance is nice and the whole restaurant is very spacious and grand compared to Tenji and Shogun. Since it was a buffet style, basically you just have to take what you want to eat or just place a 'Jogoya clip' into the bowl and wait for the dish to be served (for those that need to be cooked) .
There are just too many foods we tried and ate (I didn't bring my camera that day, so no photo to show :(!! ). Some of them tasted good and most of them tasted average but some tasted really bad. We entered the restaurant at 2pm and only left at about 4pm. That’s a full 2 hours buffet session! Damn full man!!
Overall, it’s still a nice place to dine in where the foods is slightly above average and the price (with promotion) is consider 'cheap'. Anyway, it was quite enjoyable to dine in Jogoya but i don't think I will back again in a short time.

Am I a GoOd LeaDeR?

How to be a good leader??
This was the hot topic recently in the conversation during my 'mamak' times with some of the YMM jenjarom members.....
How this topic started?
We are now arrange a programme name "the practice of recycling in our village" which aims to increase the public awareness and participation in recycling event.
In the event, we want to educate and encourage the public to foster a positive attitude towards recycling and waste minimisation.
During the preparation period, we (as the senior in the organisation) faced some big problems on how to lead our new committee members or how to train them to be more independent.....

So, back to our topic.....
How to become a good leader?
(Ok.... I have to admit that I am not a perfect leader....).
But based on my experiences and our discussion during those 'mamak' times......

These are some characteristics of a successful leader?
1. A good leader has an exemplary character such as the person who always practices clear, candid, and open communication. He will earn the respect from his team for the good character and trustworthiness .

2. A good leader is enthusiastic about their work. He will gives feedback and expects feedback from others.

3. A good leader must know how to puts the right people in the right positions.

4. A good leader must able to sees the big picture or keeping the main goal in focus. Not only view a situation as a whole, but he must also able to break it down into sub parts for closer inspection.

5. A good leader must know when to "let go their hands". He must trust the ability of his team and inspires confidence in others and draws out the trust and best efforts of the team to complete the task well.

6. A good leader is tolerant of ambiguity and remain calm, composed and steadfast to the main goal.

So, based on the characteristics listed above.......
Which characteristics do I have?

Noting is impossible。

BaCK to StuDy LiFe

"How am I going to teach people if I don't know the subject at all????"
This was the question in my mind when I was informed to handle a practical class on 'Microbial Genetics'.
So what to do?
Now。。。。
I am studying hard to avoid any funny mistake which may happen that day.
Really hope this semester will end faster.....
So that I can concentrate on my lab works.....
Since mention about 'Microbial Genetics' here,
Let me introduce--- Escherichia coli
Why E.coli? because we live with this microbe whole life.....
Still remember, I used to read an article about this microbe wrote by my friend, Dr.Neoh....
In his article, he called this microbe as '伊可丽小姐'......(Haha, what a nice name in chinese...huh?)
E.coli is the most well studied bacteria. It normally lives inside your intestines, where helps your body to break down and digest the foods. Unfortunately, certain type of E. coli can get from the intestines into the blood and cause illness such as diarrhoea. Since E.coli is one of the best-studied prokaryotic model organism, scientist normally use them in mass production of wanted protein. The very first application of this microbe in biotechnology is to produce human insulin. My pHD studies also involve a lot of this microbe in my work too.
E.coli....... My favourite microbe!!

2009 CNY FaMiLy PhoTo

LiOn DaNCe

A Chinese New Year celebration will not complete without lion dance. This year, daddy invited the lion dance troupe to our home to bring 'ONG' and get rid of 'suiness'.

Because of this, we wake up early in the first morning of CNY and prepared to welcome our 'big guest' today.

I was told by my parents that the lion dance is not simply for entertainment. Basically it is performed on CNY to bring luck and prosperity to our house and to chase away all negative spirits.

The action from the lion dance troupe was not fantastic at all. *because they are not professional lion dancer?? They are just students from private chinese school...... okok.... no critics....!!i know!!
After the peeling of mandarin oranges and arranged them on a plate. Immediately after that, brother light up the firecracker and the lion passed the stuff in the red tray to my daddy. What they say is it signifies good luck and wealth.
